Join us at St. Alban’s Church in Burnside for Instant Choir. Led by Julia Halfyard, we will sing Wayne Chaulk’s Song for Newfoundland. Open to anyone who loves to sing. We will learn the song, sing some harmonies, perform the song and have some fun in the process.

“Stage Voices”

Paul Rowe will lead a discussion with the creative team of Jillian Keiley and Robert Chafe. This duo has been collaborating on innovative and creative work since their first project: In Your Dreams Freud in 1995. Since that time, their theatre company, Artistic Fraud has become one of Newfoundland’s foremost theatre companies. They specialize in large scale chorus-based work where spectacle meets story. Wayne Johnston will also be joining the panel for what will surely be a captivating discussion.

Outreach 2018

Eric West – musician/writer in residence at Terra Nova National Park.

Winterset in Summer and Terra Nova National Park will again partner to provide a writer in residence at the Park’s Activity Centre from Monday, August 6th to Thursday, August 9th inclusive. This year’s musician/writer in residence is Eric West.

Eric West is a guitarist, composer and publisher from Ladle Cove, Notre Dame Bay. He performs original, folk and classical music, primarily on solo guitar. Eric has recorded with folk groups, classical ensembles and the children’s musical duo ‘Heather and Eric’. He has composed music for radio, television and stage. Eric’s publications include a guitar method book/CD, seven volumes of folk song arrangements and a children’s book/CD. His music is featured on over a dozen recordings. Eric is president and artistic director of the Soundbone Traditional Arts Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting this province’s traditional music, dance and storytelling arts. Among other activities, Soundbone organizes school tours, community workshops, a Summer Music Series and the Vinland Music Camp. The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council awarded Eric the 2007 Arts Achievement Award for his contribution to the arts in this province.
