The Festival is pleased to kick-off the weekend with a pre-festival benefit concert for the local Beaches Library. Outreach 2014
Children’s Writer at Terra Nova National Park
Terra Nova National Park and Winterset in Summer are partnering from August 4th to August 7th to hold reading workshops with award-winning children’s writer, Susan Pynn Taylor. All workshops will be held at the Park’s Activity Centre at 10 a.m. On Wednesday, August 6th, Susan will hold an additional session at the Beaches Library in Eastport at 2 p.m.
Susan Pynn Taylor is a professional writer, currently working in marketing & communications. Susan currently has four children’s books published by Creative Book Publishers. Her fifth title is due out in the Spring of 2015. Most of Susan’s books have a Newfoundland theme or setting, and celebrate both childhood and what it means to live in this unique and fascinating land.

Children’s Writer Sheree Fitch and School Outreach
The Festival is sponsoring Children’s writer Sheree Fitch in a school outreach program from May 12th -16th in the Gambo/Glovertown/Eastport area schools.
Sheree Fitch has written many books for children and performs regularly in schools and libraries across the continent . Awards for her books include the Mr. Christie’s Book Award for ” There were Monkeys in my Kitchen ” the Ann Connor Brimer Award for ” Mable Murple ” and the Vicky Metcalf Award for contributions to Children’s Literature ” . Sheree is a lover of words and has serious fun with them. .. Her books are wildly popular with children and adults alike . She lives on Chocolate Lake , N.S. with her family.
