Bert Riggs - writer bio
Bert Riggs Bert Riggs is a former archivist and teacher at Memorial University. He is the editor of two volumes of World War 1 letters, Your Daughter Fanny, with William Rompkey, (2006), and Grand Bank Soldier (2007) and has written extensively about individual members of the Newfoundland Regiment for publication in journals and newspapers, for presentation at public events and conferences and as part of the ongoing series Gower Remembers. Early in his career he worked as a writer and researcher with Joseph R. Smallwood on the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador. He has been active for many years in a number of professional and community-based organizations, including Winterset in Summer; he currently sits on the boards of the Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and is chair of the Records, Archives and History Committee of the Newfoundland and Labrador Conference of the United Church of Canada.
