2009 - Richard GwynMissed Opportunities for Newfoundland 1867-1869
Richard Gwyn is the founder of Winterset in Summer and the annual Winterset Award for Newfoundland writing, both of which were established to commemorate his first wife, Sandra Fraser. He is the author of several best-selling books, including Smallwood; The Unlikely Revolutionary. His most recent book, John A; The Man Who Made Us. John A. Macdonald, 1815-1891, Volume One., was selected as the winner of the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction.
Gwyn is also one of Canada’s best-known and most highly-regarded political columnists and a frequent commentator on CBC TV and radio. He is the winner of the winner of multiple awards, including two National Newspaper Awards and a National Magazine Award.
